Amateur Baseball Report (ABR) and USSSA are proud and excited to announce the offering of two Advanced Travel Player Instructional and Evaluation Camps for 8u-14u travel baseball players. ABR has partnered with the Windy City Thunderbolts to present these elite events at Standard Bank Stadium in Crestwood, IL. Our two-day camps will focus on high level professional instruction by some of the finest coaches in the area along with a five-tool player evaluation. Evaluations will be used to help qualify players for our upcoming USSSA/ABR Elite Events

Camp Details

Camp Director: Our camp will be directed by Mike Moyzis former General Manager of Operations for the Chicago White Sox Academies and Hall of Fame Collegiate Coach. Mike has over 30 years of coaching experience at the high school, college and professional levels. Mike’s excited to bring this quality event to the Thunderbolts Stadium and has assembled a great staff of high school, college and former professional players/coaches.

Assistant Director: John Sabatino Director of ABR/USSSA Youth Elite Events, will be on-hand to coordinate the pitching instruction as well evaluation process. John was a standout pitcher at Lewis University and played professionally in the Chicago White Sox organization. He is currently the USSSA State Director and ABR Youth Elite Event Coordinator.

On Field Instruction

Lead Instructor: Former major leaguer, Brett Bowers, will be our camp Lead Instructor and coordinate our camp instruction schedule.  Brett was a second round draft choice by the Toronto Blue Jays out of St. Laurence High School and played with former major league greats Cal Ripke, Eddie Murray, and Rafael Palmeiro.  Brett enjoyed a 14 year professional career as a player and a ten year career as a minor league manager.  He's currently the Owner and CEO of the Triple Crown All-Star Academy in Schereville, IN.

About The Instruction: Our camp is designed for travel baseball players who want to learn advanced techniques and be evaluated for our elite events. Our professional instructors will use position specific training throughout the duration of the camp, use the same instructional techniques used by the pros. The combination of our professional instruction and evaluation in a stadium setting will provide a great learning environment for our campers. Players will be grouped by age and ability with a 6-1 player coach ratio.

About The Evaluation: Each player will receive an ABR five-tool skills evaluation (hitting, fielding, speed, power, arm strength). Each player will receive a Personal Profile Evaluation Page on the ABR website where results will be posted. The Top Elite Players from this camp will be invited to participate in a number of prestigious Elite Events being held by ABR/USSSA later this summer.

Standard Bank Stadium

Premium Items: Each player will receive a camp jersey along with a Five -Tool Personal Profile Evaluation. The Thunderbolts will provide each camper with a complementary ticket to watch the Windy City Thunderbolts play the Southern Minors on Thursday June 14th and will also honor each participant with a pre-game on field parade.
