In the 10u division it was a hard fought battle between the Illinois Sparks and Bolingbrook Rampage. #7 tied it in the late innings with an RBI single to make the game 8-8, but it was eventually #21 who would go on to hit a 2 run homerun to take the lead. The rampage didn’t look back from there and took home first place. #9 of the sparks was inches away from what would have been a huge game changing home run, however it fell for a double.
Mike Loesch gave the credit of this championship to his pitching staff and defense. His key to the championship was situational hitting and hits with runners in scoring position. When asked about the tournament MVP Loesch stated, “Kyle Bragg and Santino really performed well throughout the tournament and were the MVP’s, it was truly an overall team effort.”
Loesch made it clear that the Sparks were his best competition. He also had a tough game against Mokena in the semis. With his team putting on a bit of an offensive show, they just didn’t stand a chance. He was very happy to be The Battle in the Brook Champions and is proud of how supportive and confident his players were.

In the 14u division the Oswego Cobras edged out the Plainfield Sixty- Sixers. It was a barn burner of a game which ended up at 5-4. Both coaches stated pitching was key prior to the key. Plainfield thought they had it in the bag with the arm they were throwing. Clutch hitting was also a mutually agreed factor. Both teams played very hard however; Oswego proved to be one step ahead and took home the hardware.

All in all, it was a great day at the field for ABR. The competition was very tough and the amount of hustle the kids showed was staggering. We found it relieving that kids this young can play with so much maturity. Congratulations to all teams involved in the tournament, and a special congratulation to all five champions. Look for an ABR scout at USSSA tournaments reporting your game!
