After three long days of painstaking choices, the 2012 MLB Draft has come to end with the Phillies selecting the 1238th player. Day three of the draft proved to be successful as there were a number more of alumni called upon. USSSA World Championship standout Derek Deyoung was picked in the 18th round by the Athletics. Deyoung is a loose righty that brings it into the low to mid 90’s. He flashes a very sharp curveball, which helped make him the leader in D2 Juco strikeouts.
2008 number one ranked 13U, CJ Hinojosa, was picked up in the 26th round by the Astros. Hinojosa slipped a little due to injuries. He is extremely sound defensively and possess a plus bat for both power and average. He is signed with Texas.
2009 USSSA All-American and 2010 USSSA National Team member, Hunter Wood, was taken in the 32nd round by the Red Sox. Wood possess an electric fastball with more in the tank, as he has a lot of room to mature physically. Wood will head off to Howard CC if he chooses not to sign.
Congrats to all of the ABR and USSSA alumni in the 2012 draft. A complete list of alumni will be posted shortly
