Windy City Thunderbolts Recap

For Immediate Release:
ABR/USSSA Youth Evaluation Camp – Crestwood, IL

This week, Amateur Baseball Report working in partnership with USSSA, hosted the ABR two-day Instructional & Evaluation Camp at the Windy City Thunderbolts Stadium in Crestwood, IL. Over 40 young players attended to show their skills and learn from the pros.

“The south suburbs have always been known for great baseball and this group certainly didn’t disappoint us” said Camp Director Mike Moyzis.

These future stars were divided into 10-12 player groups and rotated through instructional and evaluation stations. Former White Sox Academy General Manager and Hall of Fame Collegiate Coach Mike Moyzis, former Major Leaguer Brett Bowers, Joliet Slammer Catcher Vern Mann’s and elite instructor Isaac Valdez provided the instruction in base running, throwing, fielding, pitching and hitting. Former Major Leaguer Brett Bowers stressed the importance of understanding as an athlete you will probably fail, but every athlete learns from failure. He said “you need to fail in order to succeed”. He explained he failed many times in his career but always worked hard to improve his skills which gave him the confidence to succeed.

Participants were evaluated using the ABR Five-Tool evaluation process and Exclusive Player Profiles were created and made available to all campers here on-line. “We’re really excited about the talent in this camp. We’ll recommend many of these players to participate in our Tri-State All-Star Weekend event” being held this year in Bolingbrook, IL. July 26-29 said Tri-State All-Star Weekend said Camp Director Mike Moyzis. Invitations will go out this week to the standouts from this camp inviting them to participate in this elite event. Some of these players will also qualify for the Junior All-State Games being held in Fishers, Indiana August 9th-12th. Players can continue to qualify throughout the summer through our Evaluation Camps as well as our USSSA Tournaments. Information on these events can be found at: www.AMATEURBASEBALLREPORT.com
