With the USSSA All-American Games approaching, ABR wanted to update everyone on what we have been doing for the past eight months. From August 9th-12th roughly 300 of the most talented baseball players in all of the travel ball world will cleat up and prepare for a test of the ages. It is a four day grind where every move is scrutinized and every play is noted.
Although our colleges in attendance have not yet been announced, we can say that every player will have the opportunity to find his perfect school while at the event. With schools ranging from NJCAA to DI no player will be left out. In previous years, power houses such as Miami, Florida, and Florida State have all been in attendance.
Valparaiso coach Jeramy St. Clair is a true testament to USSSA’s All-American Games where he was been a perennial participant as a coach and uses these events as main tools to sign his players.
Director of Scouting for ABR, former NCAA DI All-American, Mets minor leaguer and AA All-Star, DJ Wabick, has been working heavily on bringing the highest scouts from various MLB teams. ABR goes above and beyond with the AAG’s where we bring the highest level scout, the cross checker, instead of your local bird dog scout.
With all of these gears being put into motion, it has been up to ABR scouts to bring in the highest quality and variety of players yet to the AAG’s. The 2011 games had around 20 different states in attendance. The prior years were around 15 states. In 2012 we have made a huge effort to make it a true All-American Games where almost all of the American States will be recognized. As of now 35 different states across the country have committed to participate in the event.
Every player invited has been recommended to us by the most reliable sources and have been cross examined by our own ABR scouts.
With all of the exposure put aside, one of the most unique aspects of the Games is the prospect of playing for the National Team. As it has been stated countless times, the 14u and 15u age groups will be asked to participate in the 2013 USSSA Gold Medal Games. He 16u/17u players will be traveling abroad on an expense free trip yet again. ABR and USSSA are currently deciding on the 2013 international location. Italy, France, Japan, and the Czech Republic have already invited the team to compete in their home territory next summer.
This year clearly looks to be another successful year for the USSSA All-American Games. Players hope to join the likes of the Games alumni gone pro such as Jose Berrios, Wyatt Mathisen, Jesse Winker, Max Foody, Jake Junis and the list goes on. There has been over 25 alumni chosen in the draft, many of which have already signed pro contracts. Good luck to all participants for this year!
