Nearly every competitive youth baseball player competes in travel ball. Let's face it. Recreation and community leagues provide little in the form of challenges and development. But what many families must recognize is that even though their child is competing on a travel team, it doesn't guarantee a career in the big leagues, nor does it assure the reward of a scholarship to college. Heck, it doesn't even secure a spot on the high school roster. The sooner parents realize those realities concerning their child's participation in travel baseball, the better they'll cope with the potential disappointment.
