The weekend of July 24-26th was the 6th annual USSSA Tri-State All-Star Weekend held in Schaumburg, IL at the Olympic Park Complex. On Friday July 24th, players and their families gathered at Alexian Field home of the two time defending Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers for the TSAS opening ceremony and festivities. Players and coaches had the opportunity to participate in the pre-game All-star walk around the field and enjoy a fun night of activities and baseball with family and friends. 11745505_10152657539099649_9196526315915199150_n

Saturday would bring excitement and heroics to the air as players were gearing up for pool play. Games where very competitive and saw three come from behind wins by the home teams in their final at bats with two of them being walk off home runs. Players, coaches, and family members enjoyed an exciting and competitive day of baseball.

With the seeding set, teams anticipated a very fun Sunday ahead to see which team would be crowned the 2015 USSSA Tri-State All-Star Champions at their respected age level. The 9u/10u age level saw team Greys coached by Kevin Aikens defeat Team Wild Things 16-8. Team Greys played a complete team game and went 4-0 over the weekend. At the 11u/12u age level Team Thunderbolts put on a show, scoring a total of 33 runs and giving up 7 throughout the tournament. That lead the Thunderbolts to an 8-0 win over team Beach Bums in the championship game. The 13u age level saw team Miners who started Sunday as the bottom seed with a record of 0-2 fight all the way back and win the championship 4-3 in a back and forth game over the Rascals. Finally, at the 14u age level team Boomers put on a strong showing over the weekend as the number one seed and finished the tournament off with a victory in the championship 8-7 over the Cornbelters.
